Fishing in Kefalonia
Argostoli, Kefalonia's main town, sits on a long inner gulf sheltered by the Lassi peninsula, giving calmer water than the island's dramatic open west coast. The gulf and harbour area hold bream, bass, and mullet, while the limestone cliffs further round the coast drop into deep water favoured by grouper and dentex. Being the largest Ionian island, Kefalonia catches a bit more wind than sheltered Lefkada, but far less than the Aegean's meltemi-driven islands.
